Make the Business Romance Last!

February 17th, 2009

How to love your business now and in twenty years

1. Renew Your Vows  Weekly, monthly, yearly. Renew and set goals. Love what you’ve become. Take a step back and examine why you started your business and renew your goals so it reaches its full potential.

2. Keep the Love Alive  Promote a marketing plan that actually makes you money and keeps your business alive and growing. Like love, a business can die without a good plan.

3. A Diamond is Forever  Support a strong brand that is lasting. Every good romance could use a few diamonds and every good business needs a branding identity that lasts just as long.

Are you covered in the right places?

December 17th, 2008

In todays economy, businesses are trying to cut costs but still remain well dressed” (well branded and recognizable)in the marketplace. If you are cutting your marketing costs there are some concepts to bear in mind:

1. Make sure you are covered in the right places – Evaluate your marketing plan to ensure you are spending in the right areas. Are the places you are advertising targeted to your clients? For example, you wouldn’t want to advertise ice cream in an ice skating rink in winter.

2. What are your competitors doing? In an increasingly competitive marketplace, make sure you are aware of your competitors and what they are doing. You can then be a stronger competitor. Let’s get your boxing gloves on!

3. Consumer dollars are limited and will be spent with the companies who they remember the most. Are you staying at the top of your consumers mind? Keep marketing and advertising and you will stay on your clients and potential clients purchasing radar.

October Newsletter

October 9th, 2008
Many people I meet in my business adventures have a website. In today’s tech-savvy world just about every business has some sort of a website and believe it or not, people judge your company on the appearance of your website. It is a pre-qualifier for doing business with your company.

A website today can be a very effective marketing tool if used correctly. It can pre-qualify sales leads, be a profit center, provide people free knowledge about your products and services and indicate that you are you an expert in your profession. It validates who you are and what you do.

What makes a great website? Ask yourself these questions:

  • Is it fulfilling the purpose of the business?
  • Is it branded to your company?
  • Does it look like everyone else’s or does it stand out and attract the clients you want?
  • Where does your website rank and is it being regularly updated?
  • How many visits does it receive each month and from whom?
  • What pages are being viewed the most? Are you adapting the website accordingly?
  • How easy is it to find on the web? Are your maximizing organic and Pay Per click advertising?

Is your website fulfilling the purpose of the business?

Is your website serving as an effective marketing tool for your company? Think about the way you qualify a business you want to work with. I guess you could compare it to the yellow pages. If you need a plumber are you more likely to call someone with an attractive looking clean ad, or are you just going to call the first one listed in text without an ad. Is your site portraying your brand?   Is it pre qualifying sales leads, being a profit center, giving people free knowledge about your products or services and making you the expert in your profession?

How does your website rank?

If you needed pest control, you would probably type ‘pest control’ in your area in the Google search. Then what happens? You would probably click on the very first website at the top of the Google search. Why not click on page two or three of Google and pick the fourth or fifth plumber down? It’s simple; Google’s spiders have already pre-ranked the websites and made  it easy for you to find the most up to date and knowledgeable sites. Updating your site frequently will encourage Google to visit your site more frequently and this will build your Search Engine Optimization.

Why only go half way on your company website?

Set yourself apart from your competition and set up a great website.  When I hear ” It is too expensive”, I have to say “compared to what?”  Think about it this way, if you spend $1000 dollars a month in newspaper, radio, specialist magazines, or other advertising, can you track it? Some say yes and have a pretty good idea, but what if you could know exactly who has visited your site, which pages they visited, how long they stayed, and how they got on to your site weekly. Thanks to Google Analytics you can.

If you have any questions or comments please feel free to call or e-mail me.
Thank you,
Brad
